Implement security requirements in your firmware

Product security has to work on your hardware. Solvetronix analyses firmware, interfaces and development processes to identify risk-based measures. For existing products, we also document limitations of the available hardware and source code.

Assess firmware and security architecture

Connect each risk to a testable measure

We examine device identity, authentication, permissions, key management, data storage, communication security and unused interfaces. Secure boot, signed updates and protected debug access may be appropriate measures; their use follows from the risk assessment and technical architecture.

Development connects threat modelling, implementation and verification. Each measure needs evidence for the relevant product version, such as a negative authentication test or a documented check that rejects a tampered update. These are examples of technical measures, rather than a complete list of individual legal requirements.

A field device example

A device accepts firmware without checking integrity and uses a shared service login. The assessment considers misuse scenarios and available resources. Update verification, individual credentials and a controlled service process are then designed and tested. This is an illustrative example.

What Solvetronix helps you establish

  • An attack surface assessment and prioritised firmware findings.
  • A technical hardening plan with documented assumptions and limitations.
  • A test report and evidence for the agreed product version.

Legal basis and sources

General information and technical guidance. The specific assessment depends on the product, role and use. Reviewed 22 October 2026.
