Yaskawa V1000 EOL: spare, repair, or retrofit?
Yaskawa discontinued the V1000 series for new supply in the EU. For operators that means a failed inverter can stop the line — and a simple OEM replacement is often no longer available.
Typical signals
- Drive faults / will not go to Run
- Parts suppliers: “not available” or used-only without warranty
- OEM proposes a successor — often with control, wiring, or parameter changes
Three realistic paths

Used / surplus
Fast when an identical unit (e.g. CIMR-VC4A…) is in stock. Risk: unknown history and remaining life. -
Repair / board-level
Useful for known failure modes when mechanics and terminals must stay. Not always feasible after heavy power-stage damage. -
Retrofit to a current drive
Drop-in where possible; otherwise adapter + parameters + acceptance. Benefit: supply and support for years — not just “one more used V1000”.
When retrofit is the better call
- The line must run on a plan, not on luck in the used market
- Several V1000 units are in the plant (the next failure is likely)
- Safety / CRA / networking requirements are rising anyway
What we need for a first assessment
- Nameplate / order code (e.g. CIMR-VC4A0005BAA)
- Motor power, supply, braking resistor, encoder/IO if present
- Fault picture and any OEM recommendation
